Brian O’Riordan is the principal of DABOR Consulting, providing professional consulting services tailored to organizational needs. He specializes in helping organizations develop clear Vision and Mission Statements, strong governance frameworks, and practical, results-focused Strategic Plans. His work supports both advocacy and regulatory organizations seeking innovative solutions and effective long-term direction.
Brian’s expertise is grounded in a distinguished career in health regulation, public policy, and political strategy. He recently completed fifteen years as CEO of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and previously served as Executive Director of the Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council (HPRAC). He also served as Vice-Chair of the Health Profession Regulators of Ontario (HPRO) and chaired the national alliance of regulators for audiologists and speech-language pathologists.
Over the course of his career, Brian has led numerous strategic planning initiatives for major organizations, including the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA), HPRAC, and CASLPO. He has also chaired national initiatives focused on improving interprofessional labour mobility across Canada and has delivered presentations at many professional association and regulatory conferences.
Before his leadership roles in health regulation, Brian held senior positions in the Ontario government, university, and hospital sectors. He served as Chief of Staff and political advisor to several provincial ministers, including Finance, Labour, and Citizenship, and twice acted as a Senior Transition Manager for incoming provincial governments, helping establish and staff multiple ministerial executive offices.
Brian is also an accomplished writer and communicator. He has authored two books and numerous magazine articles, edited the widely read bi-monthly Inside Queen’s Park newsletter for eight years, and wrote the Ontario Hospital Association’s first publication on best practices in hospital governance.
In addition, Brian has extensive board and governance experience, having served on or chaired boards and committees for organizations such as the University of Toronto, the Metro Toronto Reference Library, and the Kidney Foundation of Canada. As a senior executive and consultant, he has also supported many boards in both the public and private sectors.
